Droylsden Medical Practice offers primary care services to registered patients living within the catchment area as well as non-registered patients visiting, living in or working in the area.

Please note, a telephone line is available at the practice, which gives patients direct access to Citizens Advice. The free service enables patients to discuss any concerns or issues while visiting the GP practice. Further information is available here.

Home visits

If you are unable to attend the medical practice and need a home visit contact reception on 0161 342 7777. Home visits are only available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability. If possible please try to telephone before 10am. A doctor or nurse may phone you back as it may be that your problem can be dealt with by telephone advice, or that it would be more appropriate to send a nurse, or indeed arrange going to hospital. Please note we are always able to examine patients better and can do more tests in the centre. Please try to make it to the centre if you can.

What if the practice is closed?

If you require urgent but not life-threatening medical assistance that cannot wait until your GP practice re-opens, please call 111. Following a telephone assessment by NHS111 you will be provided with information about the appropriate service for your health problem. If you are unsure which health care service you need to visit, NHS 111 will signpost you to the most appropriate care for your condition - GP, local pharmacy, walk-in-centre, emergency department or an emergency ambulance response.

If you have a life-threatening medical emergency, please dial 999.
Calls to the NHS 111 service are free from both landlines and mobiles (pay as you go phones need to have at least 1p of credit, although no charge is made).

Catchment area and registrations

Our practice area includes all of Droylsden and some areas of Audenshaw.
If you would like to register with the practice, please collect a registration form from the practice.
If you have not previously been registered with a GP in the UK, you will need to bring evidence of your place of residence, such as a work permit visa, utility bill or photo ID.

Making an appointment

If you would like to see the doctor or nurse please phone 0161 342 7777 or come into the Practice to make an appointment. If you are unable to keep your appointment it is very important that you let us know so that we can offer the appointment to someone else. More Info

The aim of the Medical Practice is to provide excellent patient services and meet and exceed national quality standards.

Patients with particular needs

The premises are accessible to disabled patients. All consulting rooms are on ground floor level and are accessible by a wheelchair. Hearing loops are in place in the reception area for those patients who are hard of hearing. We can arrange interpretation in person or by phone for patients who do not speak English. Please let us know if you need this service when booking an appointment.

Phone advice

You do not always need to come in for an appointment. Many problems can be dealt with over the phone and we will always phone you back on the same day we can:

  • Provide advice about treating minor illnesses
  • Deal with queries about hospital appointments
  • Deal with queries about medical forms and sick notes
  • Answer queries about test results
  • Provide advice on medication

Repeat prescriptions

Every time we issue a repeat prescription, an up-to-date list of your medications is printed on the right hand side of your prescription to enable you to remember which tablets you take.

Changes to how your medication is ordered

Sometimes patients receive medicines they do not actually use, or use only occasionally. This creates unnecessary waste and can be potentially harmful if a medication is taken that is no longer needed.

With this in mind, the practice has decided to change the way in which repeat medicines are ordered.

We feel by encouraging patients to order their own medication ensures they are taking responsibility for their own health care.

From 3 October 2016 your pharmacy will no longer be ordering your repeat prescription for you. You will be responsible for ordering the medicine you require.

There are numerous ways you can do this:

Please allow 48 hours for your prescription to be generated.

This affects the ordering of your prescription only. Once you have ordered your medicine, it can be collected from the surgery by yourself or your chosen pharmacy, and dispensed in the usual manner.

Test results

The practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. We will only release test results to the person to who they relate unless that person has let us know they have given prior permission for someone else to pick up the results or they are not capable of understanding the results.

If investigations are arranged by either the doctor or a nurse, please ensure that you understand how to check the results. An enquiry to reception will tell you if the result is available and whether or not you need to see the doctor again.

Please telephone for your results between 2pm and 3pm. This allows time for the results to be processed and checked by the doctor. It helps enormously, if when requesting results you can be as specific as possible about what the test was for and when it was done.
