Millbrook Medical Practice offers primary care services to registered patients living within the catchment area shown below, please check with reception for practice boundaries if you are unsure. A large free car park is available.

Home visits

If you are unable to attend the medical practice and need a home visit, please contact reception on 0161 304 2470. Home visits are only available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability. If possible, please try to telephone before 10am. A doctor or nurse may phone you back as it may be that your problem can be dealt with by telephone advice, or that it would be more appropriate to send a nurse, or indeed arrange going to hospital. Please note we are always able to examine patients and carry out appropriate tests in the centre. Please try to make it to the centre if you can.

What if the practice is closed?

The practice closes one afternoon per month for training, usually on a Thursday. The dates for these closures can be found below.

If you require urgent but not life-threatening medical assistance that cannot wait until your GP practice re-opens, please call 111. Following a telephone assessment by NHS111 you will be provided with information about the appropriate service for your health problem. If you are unsure which health care service you need to visit, NHS 111 will signpost you to the most appropriate care for your condition - GP, local pharmacy, walk-in-centre, emergency department or an emergency ambulance response.

If you have a life-threatening medical emergency, please dial 999.

Calls to the NHS 111 service are free from both landlines and mobiles (pay as you go phones need to have at least 1p of credit, although no charge is made).

Catchment area and registrations

Our practice area includes all of Stalybridge and Mossley, so if you live in this area you can register with us.

Download a registration form or call in at the surgery to register. You do not need to contact your previous surgery.

Making an appointment

We have some GP appointments available to book on-line (please register at reception for this service) If you would like to see the doctor or nurse please phone 0161 304 2470 or come into the practice to make an appointment.

If you are unable to keep your appointment it is very important that you let us know so that we can offer the appointment to someone else.

How to find us

We are located off Grove Road, Millbrook (opposite Stalybridge Country Park). Parking is available at the surgery and the nearest bus stop/route is two minutes walk away on Huddersfield Road, Millbrook.




PLEASE NOTE THE SURGERY WILL BE CLOSED FOR TRAINING ON THE DATES BELOW FROM 12PM. CALLS WILL BE DIRECTED TO THE OUT-OF-HOURS SERVICE FOR EMERGENCY TREATMENT.

Patients with particular needs

The premises are accessible to disabled patients. All consulting rooms are on ground floor level and are accessible by a wheelchair. Hearing loops are in place in the reception area for those patients who are hard of hearing. We can arrange interpretation in person or by phone for patients who do not speak English. Please let us know if you need this service when booking an appointment.

Phone advice

You do not always need to come in for an appointment. Many problems can be dealt with over the phone and we will always phone you back on the same day. Telephone consultations may include:

  • Providing advice about treating minor illnesses
  • Dealing with queries about hospital appointments
  • Dealing with queries about medical forms and sick notes
  • Answering queries about test results
  • Providing advice on medication

Repeat prescriptions

Every time we issue a repeat prescription, an up to date list of your medications is also printed on the right hand side of your prescription to enable you to remember which tablets you take. This is also useful when you re-order your medication by either of the following:

  • Attending the centre and requesting a prescription face to face or putting in our repeat prescription box in reception.
  • Requesting a repeat prescription through your local pharmacies order and collect service.
  • Sending your prescription request through the post or via fax.
  • Requesting your prescription via email at: repeatmedications@nhs.net (please click on the link for 'repeat prescriptions')

To avoid errors, we do not accept telephone requests for repeat prescriptions.

Once your request has been received, it will take a further 48 working hours to process your prescription.

Test results

The practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. We will only release test results to the person to who they relate unless that person has let us know they have given prior permission for someone else to pick up the results or they are not capable of understanding the results.

If investigations are arranged by either the doctor or a nurse, please ensure that you understand how to check the results. An enquiry to reception will tell you if the result is available and whether or not you need to see the doctor again.

Please telephone for your results between 2pm and 3pm. This allows time for the results to be processed and checked by the doctor. It helps enormously, if when requesting results you can be as specific as possible about what the test was for and when it was done.

Patient Advice and Liaison Service

As a patient, relative, carer, friend of a patient or any other member of the public, you may have questions about the services we provide and may need someone to turn to for on-the-spot help and advice. This is where the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) can help. PALS will treat all your information confidentially.
