New seven day service now available
A new seven day service is being introduced in Tameside and Glossop to give patients more flexibility in where, when and how they use local health services.
Patients registered with a GP in Tameside or Glossop can now book appointments to see a doctor at evenings and weekends.
Appointments are available from 6.30pm-8pm Monday to Friday, and 9am-12noon at weekends, at Ashton Primary Care Centre and Glossop Primary Care Centre. Appointments will also be offered from a location in Hyde in the coming weeks.
While patients may not get to see their own doctor during these hours, the clinician they do see will have access to the patient’s medical record, subject to their consent.
All appointments must be booked in advance through the patient’s own registered surgery.
The seven day service is designed to help those who struggle to get to the doctors during the day, such as people who work full time or do shift work, carers, and parents of school age children.
There are also plans to offer appointments with practice nurses in the future, so patients can book in for diagnostic tests, health advice and reviews for long-term conditions such as asthma, diabetes and COPD.
