_dragons' den panel, gtd healthcare innovation fund 2015 v2.jpggtd staff have been commended for their creativity, commitment and calibre following a successful Dragons’ Den style interview panel as part of the health innovation fund.

gtd's £20,000 innovation fund encouraged creative bids from staff across the organisation who then faced a Dragons Den style interview panel. All 13 of the shortlisted applications, which will improve working practices and benefit patients, were successful.

Projects that secured funding include a patient texting services, basic life support for parents, point of care testing for patients, which will result in earlier and more appropriate treatment, along with a staff health and wellbeing programme.

The initiative is in its second year after patients and staff benefitted from the funding of six successful projects in 2014, including community-based training of basic life support skills for parents, remote access with laptops for GPs and managers and two blood pressure and BMI machines.

Jane Pugh, gtd healthcare's head of business services and Dragons Den panel member, said the standard of bids that were pitched was very high and competitive giving the Dragons a difficult decision-making process.

"The pitches were very comprehensive and we are confident that patients and staff alike will benefit from these new schemes over the coming year," she said.

"The successful applicants really demonstrated how their projects will make a positive impact on staff and patients and it will be exciting to see the projects evolve over the year.

David Beckett, gtd healthcare Chief Executive, said the organisation is committed to providing quality, compassion and innovation.

"We strive to make a difference to people, families and communities and we believe this innovation fund does just that," he said.
