The organisation’s 450 staff have been voting for the local charity they would like to support, and Reuben’s Retreat was the clear winner. Now, any funds raised through staff challenges and activities will go to support the charity.

Reuben’s Retreat aims to open a retreat in the North West of England where families who have children with life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses can take respite breaks and take time to relax, recharge, remember and rebuild.

Reuben’s Retreat will also provide bereavement support and counselling for parents and siblings who have lost their precious children.

The charity was set up to provide a lasting legacy following the tragic death of 23-month old Reuben Graham in 2012, which you can read more about on the Reuben's Retreat website, here.

gtd healthcare cares for people, families and communities, through: providing urgent medical and dental care across the North West; running GP practices, walk in services, and a 24/7 clinical and non-clinical call centre and call-handling service; and providing specialist medical and healthcare support services.

David Beckett, chief executive of gtd healthcare, said: "As an organisation, all the work we do aims to make a positive difference to people, families and communities, so it is really important to us that we give something back to a local charity – and I couldn’t be happier to support Reuben’s Retreat.

"Our staff here are full of ideas to raise money for the charity, and ultimately help to provide support and services for families in incredibly sad situations.”

Ali Rothwell, Project Manager at Reubens Retreat, and one of Reuben’s godparents, said: "Team Reuben are very pleased to have been chosen by gtd healthcare as their charity of choice for this year. We look forward to seeing their fundraising photos and more going forward. As Phase One nears opening, we are starting to plan out the future phasing and support is needed, appreciated and welcomed more than ever.”
