Employees have been commended for turning innovative ideas into projects that benefit patients, colleagues and the community.
The Quality Improvement Awards 2025 highlighted the creativity and commitment of our workforce through eight poster presentations, which were displayed at head office on 27 November.
Project leads were available to discuss their work, offering insight into how learning can be shared, adapted and applied across services.
A judging panel comprising non-executive directors and directors reviewed the submissions and selected a winner and two runners-up.
Congratulations to Callum Rimmer, head of risk and safety, who won first place for both of his poster presentations, which focused on implementing the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework and recruiting patient safety partners. The joint runners-up were Emily Walsh, advanced clinical practitioner, for her work with the Minor Surgery Service, and Jane Doyle, lead infection preventionist, for producing the monthly Clinical Hot Topics.
Dawn Sewards, director of governance, said the standard of work submitted was exceptional.
“The awards are a great way to share the diverse work taking place and showcase how colleagues are continually looking for ways to strengthen the care and support we provide,” she said.
“It was inspiring to see the passion for improvement and the drive to put ideas into practice for the benefit of patients, teams and communities. Choosing between such strong submissions is never easy, and this year was no different.”
Other poster presentations included an aspiring manager and leaders workshop, the transformation of City Health Centre Walk-in Service, the mobilisation of a paediatric respiratory hub and reusable Daisygrip tourniquets.
