An expert in thrombosis care has joined leading clinicians and patient representatives to help recognise outstanding work at this year’s Venous Thromboembolism Awards.

Sharon Collins, venous thromboembolism lead, attended the ceremony at the Houses of Parliament as a member of the national judging panel, which commended innovation, improvement and excellence in thrombosis care. Sharon said the awards, which were held on 13 May, showcased the fantastic progress being made in thrombosis care.

“It was inspiring to see so many different teams tackling the same challenges with such creativity and commitment to patients,” she said.

Initial judging took place on 26 February, with Sharon helping review submissions across five key categories, including prevention, patient experience, diagnosis and quality improvement.

Sharon was selected for the role following her recognition as the 2023 Unsung Hero award winner.
