gtd healthcare is committed to ensuring that the organisation promotes a culture whereby our employees’ voices are heard, their suggestions are listened to, and action is taken to learn and improve.
Why is speaking up important?
Speaking up about concerns at work is important. It helps us to continually improve the working environment for our staff and the services we provide to patients.
What can employees speak up about?
Speaking up is about highlighting anything that may affect patient care or colleagues' working lives. This could include something that does not feel right, such as:
- a way of working or process that is not being followed;
- patient safety concerns;
- quality of care issues;
- unsafe working conditions;
- inadequate induction or training;
- the behaviour of others that you feel is having an impact on your wellbeing, the wellbeing of colleagues, or patient care.
How to speak up
There are several ways employees can speak up or raise a concern, including:
- speaking with their line manager;
- discussing concerns with the people services team;
- completing staff surveys; or
- reporting an incident.
However, there may be occasions when staff do not feel comfortable speaking up through these channels. In these circumstances, the Freedom to Speak Up Guardian provides an alternative route for raising concerns
Our Freedom to Speak Up Guardian is committed to fostering an open and transparent culture where staff feel confident to speak up. Regardless of the route chosen, employees can be assured that their concerns will be listened to and considered appropriately.
