A gtd healthcare GP practice has been rated ‘Good’ overall in a recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection. Also, areas of ‘Outstanding’ practice have been noted.

City Health Centre in Manchester’s rating is highlighted in key areas where staff are providing services that are safe, effective, caring, responsive to people’s needs and well-led.

Areas of outstanding practice observed by the inspection team include the centre’s opening hours of 8am-8pm, seven days a week, with the practice providing emergency services for their patients. Also, the centre’s work in supporting the homeless community particularly providing flu vaccinations and hygiene packs and working with the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans Foundation to offer health checks and advice were noted as areas of outstanding practice.

The centre was commended by patients who said they are "treated with compassion, dignity and respect, they are involved in their care and decisions about their treatment and there was a continuity of care, with urgent appointments available on the same day”.

Lynn Cordock, City Health Centre’s service manager, said this is a really good achievement for City Health Centre and everyone is delighted with the CQC’s rating.

"Staff at the centre work extremely hard to provide services that meet the needs of the communities we serve, which span a diverse patient demographic,” she said.

"Being recognised for the excellent services we provide and for the outstanding practice in key areas is really rewarding as it is a key priority for us to ensure the centre is well equipped to treat patients and provide services that are accessible to all.”

Seven gtd healthcare GP practices have now been inspected by the CQC, all of which have been rated ‘Good’.

The CQC monitors, inspects and regulates services to ensure they meet fundamental standards of quality and safety in the NHS.
