Charities have benefited from gtd healthcare's Change for Charity scheme.

The scheme involves salaried employees donating their odd pennies from their monthly salary to charity.

Since April 2022, our people have been donating to their chosen charities, Cancer Research UK and Alzheimer’s Society, which have received more than £2,320 in total.

David Beckett, gtd healthcare’s chief executive, said this is a fantastic achievement.

"This small sacrifice can add up over time and make a big difference," he said.

“As an organisation, we aim to be more than a healthcare provider and look for opportunities to bring wider health benefits to the communities.

"As of last month, 76% of people opted into the scheme, demonstrating their passion and dedication to making a positive difference. We are thrilled to have raised the monies and grateful for everyone's involvement."

Following the scheme's support for NHS Charities Together during the pandemic, where the charity received more than £5000 from the scheme, the Employee Connect Council issued a survey in August that allowed our people to have their say on the Change for Charity scheme. Key to the survey was to gather feedback on the next steps for the scheme in terms of what charity/charities should receive donations. Our people decided that the funds should be divided equally between Cancer Research UK and Alzheimer's Society over the course of a year.

The scheme rounds down to the nearest pound with the pennies donated to charity, for example, if your net pay is £750.72 per month, 72p will be donated to charity. The most you can ever donate is 99p per month.

Another survey will be issued in April from the Employee Connect Council so our people can have their say in the scheme's next steps.
