gtd healthcare nurses have been recognised for their outstanding contribution to community care after being awarded the Queen’s Nurse title.

Karen Wedlock, senior advanced clinical practitioner, and educational lead for trainee advanced clinical practitioners and senior clinical practitioners, Linda Bardsley, senior clinical practitioner at Droylsden Medical Practice and Oldham urgent care, and Annie Joseph, practice nurse for Specialist Services, were celebrated at the Queen’s Nursing Institute Awards, marking a significant professional milestone.

The title is awarded to nurses who demonstrate a high level of commitment to patient care, leadership and ongoing professional development within community settings.

Linda attended the ceremony with her daughter in London and said the experience was one she will always remember.

“We made a weekend of it, which allowed us to extend our celebrations,” she said.

Karen, who also attended the ceremony, said receiving her certificate was a proud and memorable moment.

“It meant a lot to receive it in person and be surrounded by so many nurses who share the same commitment,” she said.

Annie, who was unable to attend in person, said she was immensely happy to receive the Queen’s Nurse title.

“It is the greatest achievement of my nursing career,” she said.

“The title is unique and gives me a huge sense of pride, particularly knowing that my work in the community, including within the Asylum Seeker Contingency Service, has been acknowledged at a national level.

“I am also pleased to be involved in the measles, mumps and rubella, COVID-19 and Hepatitis A vaccination programmes within the community. I enjoy learning and continually developing my skills, and I actively encourage others to do the same.”

Andrea Handley, director of nursing and allied health professionals, and executive lead for safeguarding, said their achievement highlights the long-standing commitment, professionalism and ongoing development of gtd healthcare’s nursing workforce.

“Congratulations to Karen, Linda and Annie on this well-deserved recognition,” she said.
