An awareness day to celebrate employees saw the launch of a new theme for the year ahead, alongside a message of thanks from the chief executive.

Employee Appreciation Day took place on Friday, 6 March, offering an opportunity to recognise and acknowledge the invaluable contribution colleagues make across gtd healthcare.

This year’s theme, Random acts of kindness, shines a light on the everyday behaviours that encourage collaboration, support teamwork and create a positive working environment.

To mark the day, David Beckett, chief executive, shared a video blog thanking colleagues for their continued commitment and the difference they make.

As part of the celebrations, the Employee Connect Council launched the Random acts of kindness message board, a way for colleagues to showcase everyday actions that have a positive impact.

David said this reflects the type of workplace we want to continue building at gtd healthcare, one where appreciation, respect and recognition are part of working life.

“It is important that appreciation is not limited to one day, but is embedded in our everyday practice,” he said.

Over the coming months, the Employee Connect Council and Our People’s Trust Board will introduce a range of initiatives to support the theme and enhance the experience of working at gtd healthcare. Also, members of the executive management team will also be visiting services as part of an ongoing programme of informal visits to meet with staff.

David added: “Employee Appreciation Day encourages us to reflect on how appreciation is shown, and to continue strengthening how colleagues are recognised and valued.”
