Dying Matters was the focal point of a hospice’s open day, which welcomed local charities and community healthcare teams to encourage honest conversations around death, dying and bereavement.
Margaret Hayes, specialist palliative care lead, Lisa Welsh, clinical services manager, and Claire Wilson, senior clinical practitioner, were invited by Willow Wood Hospice to represent gtd healthcare at the event on 8 May.
Margaret said the day helped break down the barriers around talking about end-of-life care and allowed them to connect with others working in the same field.
“Strengthening those relationships is key to delivering a more joined-up, compassionate approach,” she said.
“Also, I promoted gtd healthcare’s specialist palliative care service and highlighted the support we offer to patients and healthcare professionals."
Dying Matters awareness week aims to encourage open conversations about death, dying and grief, helping people feel comfortable and supported when facing end-of-life experiences.
